Hard Work=First Place!

Hunter was so excited for the Birds of Prey Art Contest this year. He wanted to do it last year, but he never did his drawing. The art contest is sponsored by the Kuna Chamber of Commerce. There are winners in four different age groups. Then the winners' artwork is published in a calendar for the following school year. Hunter had been studying this year's calendar quite intently. Once the entry forms came home, he started his picture that very day. He actually do four fully colored drafts before he was pleased with the fourth one. He drew his bird, a bald eagle, with his catch of a rabbit over farm fields. I was really excited to see that he chose to draw something different than is normally in the contest--usually there are a lot of birds catching fish. But he knew that rabbits are a huge part of the birds diets.

He got the letter in the mail one afternoon. And whooped and hollered with excitement. He was so happy to win $20! (that is what he thought first prize was, but it was actually $50!). After we all knew his great news he immediately wanted to call his friend Lauren and tell her all about it.
He got to go to an awards ceremony and then he had his picture and a photo of the awards ceremony in the Kuna Melba News too! Now he's famous!

Here's a few pictures of the awards ceremony and the Birds of Prey Festival on May 15th.
